Jalandhar, February 28

Various Sikh organisations, including Sikh Sadhbhavna Dal, Khalra Mission Organisation and Alliance of Sikh Organisation took out a march in Nakodar seeking justice for the killings of four youths at Nakodar on February 4, 1986.

The members holding banners with pictures of Ravinder S Littran, Harminder Singh, Baldhir S Ramgarh and Jhilmin S Gorsian said for the past 38 years, the families of these youths had been awaiting justice for the “extra-judicial killings”. “My son was just peacefully protesting over the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Nakodar gurdwara when he along with three others were shot dead by the police from a close range,” said Baldev Singh, father of Ravinder S Littran, who was part of the protest.

The march started from Sherpur Chowk to Gurdwara Sri Guru Arjan Dev in Nakodar. Baldev S Wadala of Sikh Sadhbhavna Dal said he had written to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann today seeking justice on the matter as was promised to the families of four youth ahead of 2022 Assembly elections. He said, “We expect this matter to be taken up in the forthcoming budget session.”
