Nakodar: The Mehat Pur police have booked a person on the charge of dowry harassment. The suspect has been identified as Lovpreet Singh, a resident of Bhundiyan village falling under the Bhog Pur police station. In her complaint to the Jalandhar SSP (Rural), Lovpreet’s wife Sonai, a resident of Mohalla Dhangara, Mehat Pur, said she was being tortured for dowry ever since the marriage solemnised around six months ago. Investigating officer Davinder Singh said a case under Section 498-A (torturing woman for dowry) had been registered against the suspect. OC

Two POs land in police net

Nakodar: The Shahkot police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who was absconding for the past one month. Investigating officer Jagtar Singh said the accused had been identified as Ravi, a resident of Malsian village. The accused was wanted in a case registered under Section 174-A of the IPC in 2017 and was declared a PO in 2024. The Nurmahal police arrested a PO, Balwinder Singh, alias Sodhi, of Kandola Kalan village. He was wanted in a case of gambling, said IO Amandeep Singh.
