The Nasha Mukti Morcha is set to launch a grassroot-level movement against drug abuse starting May 3 across Kapurthala district. The movement is part of the government’s ‘War against Drugs’ campaign.
Addressing a preparatory meeting where DC Amit Kumar Panchal, SSP Gaurav Toora and other officials were present, Nayan Chhabra, in-charge of Doaba zone for the Nasha Mukti Morcha, announced that a district-level event will mark the formal launch of the campaign.
Nearly 2,000 members from village and ward defence committees are expected to take a collective pledge to fight against drug menace during the event.
Chhabra highlighted that the initiative, spearheaded by AAP leaders, including national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and party president Aman Arora, aims to involve rural communities actively in the state’s battle against drug addiction.
