Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa takes over as Nawanshahr Deputy Commissioner

Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, a 2013-batch IAS officer, on Wednesday assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Nawanshahr district. Randhawa has replaced Vishesh Sarangal who has been posted as the Kapurthala DC last week.
Randhawa had earlier served as Chief Executive, PEDA, and had the additional charge of Secretary, Punjab State Information Commission.
While speaking to media persons, he said top priority would be accorded to ensure clean, transparent and responsive administration to the people. He said it was a matter of great pride to serve the land of legendary freedom fighter and icon of country Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
Recalling his long association with Khatkar Kalan, the new DC said when he was Director, Cultural and Tourism Affairs, his department had carried out renovation works of the ancestral house of martyr and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum and Memorial.
He said he would carry forward welfare programmes and policies of the state government to safeguard the interests of weaker and underprivileged sections of society. He said the district administration was duty-bound to facilitate the people coming for their works in the government departments.
Earlier, the DC was also given a guard of honour at the administrative complex by a contingent of the Punjab Police. He also paid obeisance at the local gurdwara in the village.
