Lawyers observe ‘No Work Day’

Phagwara: Members of the Bar Association on Friday observed “No Work Day” to support the state-level call given by various Bar Associations against the establishment of Gram Nyaylyas. Phagwara Bar Association president Karanjot Jhikka said the lawyers will intensify their stir against the establishment of Gram Nyaylyas in the state. OC

Man nabbed with stolen Jewellery

Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested a person with stolen jewellery. The accused has been identified as Rahul of Bajigar Mohalla, Islamabad. On September 23, Ramanjit Kaur of Sikh Line complained that miscreants had decamped with jewellery and ~ 25,000 from her house. Cops said they got the lead after Rahul went to sell 16.6 grams of gold. OC

3 persons held with narcotics

Phagwara: Cops have arrested three drug peddlers and seized 5 kg of gaanja and 4 grams of heroin from their possession. Cops nabbed Rakesh Mandal at a check-point near Konica Resorts. In another case, cops held Kulwant Rai and Harish of Patara village with 4 grams of heroin. OC
