Social activist Ashwani Joshi has sounded the alarm on the critical development issues plaguing Nawanshahr residents, urging the Governor to take immediate action.

Addressing the media today, Joshi expressed concern over the rising environmental degradation and social ills affecting the community. "While recent anti-drug campaigns are a step in the right direction, we must address the root causes of this problem," Joshi emphasised.

Joshi also stressed the need to protect the environment and preserve greenery in the area. "The indiscriminate cutting of trees, allegedly on behalf of ruling party leaders, harms the ecosystem and threatens future generations," he said.

He said the recent agitation by municipal council workers has raised concerns about the city's cleaning and garbage disposal, posing a significant health risk to residents.

Local residents have rallied behind Joshi's demands, urging the authorities to take concrete steps to address the drug menace and environmental degradation. "We support Joshi's demands and call on the authorities to take immediate action," said local residents.

The breakdown of the municipal council's elected body has left residents suffering from poor road safety, littering garbage and a surge in stray dogs. Joshi has written to the Governor, seeking his intervention to address these pressing issues as governance allegedly seems failing by gross neglect of Nawanshahr Nagar Council over a long period.
