NCC cadets visit Aviation Squadron

Around 210 senior division cadets of the Jalandhar NCC Group, along with the Sikh Light Infantry Battalion, are participating in a 12-day military camp at Jalandhar Cantonment.

The cadets visited the Aviation Squadron and gained detailed knowledge about helicopters, including Chetak, Cheetah and Dhruv. The helicopter pilots provided the cadets with comprehensive information about the functionality, flight and speed of choppers.

Brig HB Singh, Brigade Commander, informed the cadets about military training, several departments of the armed forces and their role in warfare.

The Engineer Regiment explained the role of nuclear, biological and chemical warfare suits to the cadets.

Inter-platoon debate and extempore speech competitions were organised among the cadets. Capt Arnish Sehgal, Officer-in-Charge, said in war zones and disaster management, soldiers were lowered from helicopters from a height of 100 metres to launch surprise attacks on the enemy. He also mentioned that during floods and tsunamis, civilian assistance is provided through slithering operations from helicopters.

Col Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer of the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion, said activities such as basketball, volleyball and tug-of-war competitions were being organised to enhance the physical and mental strength of the cadets.

Brig Ajay Tiwari, Sena Medal, Group Commander, NCC Jalandhar, said this was the third Army attachment camp for the cadets and some of these cadets would become military officers in the coming months.
