The inauguration of the ‘NCC inter-platoon competition-Sangram 2024’, consisting of 10 platoons, was held at Lovely Professional University (LPU).

Brig Ajay Tewari, Group Commander of NCC Jalandhar Group, officially inaugurated the event. The competition will feature drills, sports, cultural events, debates, and extempore lectures over the next four days. Brig Tewari took the salute during the guard of honour.

Rashmi Mittal, pro-chancellor of LPU, and Col Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer of 2 Punjab NCC Battalion, were also present during the guard of honour. Following the flag hoisting ceremony of NCC and LPU, all the NCC cadets sang the NCC and LPU songs.

Brig Tewari and Mittal unveiled the Sangram competition trophies. In his speech, Brig Tewari said the NCC competition would enhance the skills and personalities of the cadets and that such competitions should be held in other institutions as well.

He encouraged the cadets to aim for commissions and in the national NCC camps and armed forces. In her address, Mittal said this was the second year of this competition. She expressed her joy in dedicating her life to guiding, educating and training as an Honorary Colonel in the NCC. Saurabh Lakhanpal, senior dean of the student welfare department, said multifaceted programmes were underway for the bright future of the cadets and urged them to work for national development with determination and integrity. Nitin, deputy dean, Capt (Dr) Kamal Singh, Lt Sharad Shekhawat and other Army instructors and faculty members were present at the mega event.
