Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar celebrated Hindi Pakhwada from September 16 to 30, concluding the fortnight-long festival with a grand kavi sammelan on October 1, which filled the campus with a vibrant literary and cultural atmosphere.
The celebration aimed to uphold and promote the richness of the Hindi language. Throughout the two-week event, the Official Language Committee organised a series of competitions, including dangal, sutradhar, mehfil, debate and drishyama, which saw enthusiastic participation from both students and staff. Winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation, adding to the festive spirit.
The culmination of the event was marked by a grand kavi sammelan held at the institute. Renowned poets Neelotpal Mrinal, Sudeep Bhola, Varun Anand, Sapna Mulchandani, Shivam Bhagwati and Sandeep Shukla captivated the audience with their poetry and shayari.
The seminar hall, beautifully decorated by students of the Official Language Committee, reflected the theme “Nayi Wali Hindi” (The New Hindi). Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar awardee Neelotpal Mrinal described this as a Hindi that stays rooted in tradition while remaining fresh and lively. The packed hall echoed with applause, showcasing the audience’s enthusiasm.
On this occasion, Director Prof Binod Kumar Kannaujia, Registrar Prof. Ajay Bansal and members of the Official Language Committee welcomed the poets and expressed their gratitude for their presence. They also congratulated the students and committee members for their dedication and hard work in making the event a grand success.
