NIT Jalandhar defeat Surat in basketball
Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, is hosting the All India Inter NIT Tournament in basketball and table tennis. The tournament is being held from February 7-9.
Teams from 26 NITs from across the country involving over 850 students will be battling it out on the basketball courts and table tennis tables, competing for prestigious titles in both sports.
The women’s basketball match between NIT Jalandhar and SVNIT Surat played today witnessed an intense battle, ultimately leading to NIT Jalandhar’s victory.
The tournament was inaugurated with an introduction of teams by Director Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Prof Anish Sachdeva, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Subhash Chandra, Dean Planning Dr GS Dhaliwal, and Dr Vijay Kumar Mishra, coordinator, Physical Education and Sports.
The chief guest on the occasion was Swapan Sharma, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar. The Police Commissioner congratulated the NIT Jalandhar for organising the sports tournament. “Sports not only enhances our physical health but also shapes our character, teaching us values like discipline, teamwork and perseverance,” the chief guest remarked.
Prof Ajay Bansal, Registrar, also addressed the participants on the occasion.
