NIT-Jalandhar hosts International conference on sustainable materials, technology

Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, in collaboration with the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali, organised the International Conference on Advanced Materials for Sustainable Development and Technology (AMSDT-2025) on November 7–8.

The hybrid-format conference drew researchers from seven countries. It was inaugurated by Prof P K Bajpai, vice-chancellor, Jai Prakash University, Chapra (Bihar), who served as the chief guest. Emphasising the need for “high-quality, deeply focused research that contributes directly to national growth and scientific advancement”, he urged scholars to maintain academic rigour and vision.

Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia, director, NIT Jalandhar, welcomed delegates and encouraged participants to undertake multidisciplinary and industry-linked research aligned with real societal needs and sustainability goals. Prof Akash Deep, director, INST Mohali, who attended as guest of honour, underlined the importance of institutional collaboration in advancing research on advanced materials, calling for sustained joint initiatives between the two institutions.

Prof J N Chakraborty advised scholars to focus on scientific solutions that serve society, while Prof Ajay Bansal, Registrar, NIT Jalandhar, congratulated the organisers and extended greetings to the delegates.

Dr Praveen Malik, Chairman-cum-Convener of AMSDT-2025, delivered the welcome address and outlined the objectives of the event, expressing gratitude to both Directors for their guidance. Prof H M Mittal, Head, Department of Physics, encouraged participants to make the most of the platform for academic exchange.
