NIT-Jalandhar organises mass pledge against drug abuse

In a significant move to tackle the escalating issue of drug abuse, Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, organised a mass pledge event on Monday as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA). The event marked the fifth anniversary of the NMBA, a nationwide initiative launched by the Government of India to eliminate drug abuse from society.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and non-teaching staff of NIT Jalandhar, all of whom came together to reaffirm their commitment to combating the scourge of drug abuse.
Prof BK Kanaujia, Director of NIT Jalandhar, addressed the gathering and underscored the importance of the NMBA in the fight against drug addiction. In his speech, Prof Kanaujia emphasised on the devastating effects of drug abuse on individuals and communities and urged students to lead the charge in making society drug-free.
“The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is not just a campaign. It is a movement to save lives and secure a brighter future for our nation. Our youth must lead the way in this fight against drugs. At NIT-Jalandhar, we are committed to this cause and will continue to organise such events to spread awareness and educate people about the dangers of drug abuse,” he stated.
