Yadav informed Dhaliwal that the mill workers had not received their salaries, bonus, overtime payments, gratuity, LTA and provident fund dues for several months, with some dues remaining unpaid for over a year. Additionally, the ESI contributions had not been deposited. The workers had been protesting for a long time over these issues.

Yadav expressed that the workers were frustrated by the indifferent attitude of the mill owners and management towards their legitimate demands.

MLA Dhaliwal acknowledged that the workers’ demands were entirely justified. He assured the delegation that a meeting would be convened on Monday at the Phagwara Rest House, involving district administration and labour department officials. Representatives from the JCT Mill management and the workers’ union would also be present. Dhaliwal emphasised that resolving the workers’ grievances would be the top priority.

Present at the meeting were union general secretary Harinder Pratap Singh, Ramsuresh Singh, Ramrikhi Mishra, Anil Rai, Gama Yadav, Upendra Rai, Jatinder Singh, Krishna Rai and Amarjeet.
