Despite the tall claims of the normal law and order being made by the Phagwara police, 17 criminal incidents were reported during the month of January in Phagwara which could not be traced till now.

Though Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police, Satinder Singh, put hard efforts to control the law and order but the lack of coordination among cops due to political interference could be observed as the main hindrance to control it.

It was learnt that most of the cops were being deputed with the ruling politicians only as status symbols in the cover of protocol, while many of the cops were being misused by different officers for their personal work. Moreover,few cops are performing their duties in court evidences.

Though four unidentified robbers looted a jewellery shop in Panchhat village using a snatched Camry Car from Hoshiarpur but none of them could be nabbed after 24 hours of the incident. After investigation SSP Satinder Singh said that five robbers snatched the car two months ago while two of them were now already in jail for the past several days, so the remaining three with the connivance of another accused committed crime in Phagwara yesterday.

The SSP claimed that the police had identified the accused who could be nabbed any time. He admitted that no arrest could be made in the robbery till now. Meanwhile the condition of both jewelley shop owners Deepak Kalia and his employee Sukhpal who sustained bullet injuries during scuffle with the robbers are stable in DMC Hospital Ludhiana.

13-Purse snatched from a woman at the post office road

15-Woman looted from Civil Hospital locality

16- Woman looted in Khalwara Gate.
