In its meeting held on January 16, 2023, the Nagar Council passed a resolution unanimously to shift the old bus stand stop to solve the problem of traffic jam and divert heavy vehicles from Talwan Chowk to the bypass.

Councillors Jang Bahadar, Rajiv Missar, Anil Mehan, Balbir Chand, Deepak Kumar and Mamta Jassal had brought a requisition to the meeting saying there is a serious problem with traffic from Mandi Chowk to Old Bus Stand with traffic getting stuck for a long time making the ordinary people suffer.

The councillors had said that heavy trucks, trailers and other vehicles pass through this road causing traffic problems and added that if these vehicles are diverted to the bypass, the traffic problem could be resolved.

The councillors said that these traffic jams create problems for tourists who come to visit the historic Nurmahal serai.

The resolution was passed but it has not been implemented yet. Despite repeated attempts, Nagar Council officials could not be contacted for their comments.
