Nursing student on bike dies in accident
Residents, kin stage protest at incident site, demand arrest of accused
A nursing student died when his bike was allegedly hit by a car here last night.
An unidentified person was booked for the death of the youth, who was on a motorbike near a residential colony on the Jalandhar-Nakodar road, by the Lambra police here today.
Satyam Kumar, a resident of Sakarwar Tola, Bihar, who was currently pursuing a nursing degree at a college in Malsian, died allegedly after being hit by a speeding car.
As per the complaint of Devraj, the deceased's cousin and also a nursing student at Malsian, the speeding car was being driven by a woman. The complainant alleged the car entered the residential colony soon after the incident.
Irate residents, kin and passersby held a dharna on the accident site and earlier demanded that they won't allow the car driver to go scot free.
SHO of the Lambra police station Gurmeet Ram said, "Residents and passersby had been demanding action against the car driver. An FIR has been registered against the driver, who is yet to be identified. Residents have alleged the car was bring driven by a woman. But further investigations are on to verify the identity of the driver. The accused will be nabbed soon."
Police said a post-mortem of the deceased was also conducted and his body was been handed over to his relatives.
