Phillaur, April 3
In a unique initiative, the Jalandhar (rural) police have started a special drive yesterday to provide protein and nutrient-rich diet to the police on curfew duty to combat coronavirus in an effective manner. The Jalandhar (rural) police were providing chicken, cheese, milk, jaggery and other nutrient-rich material to hundreds of their cops deployed on curfew duty. The Jalandhar (rural) police covers a major portion of the district spanning over Phillaur, Nakodar, Goraya, Nurmahal, Shahkot, Kartarpur, Bhogpur, Adampur, Malsian and others. Cops deployed at these police stations were rendering duty round the clock since the imposition of curfew, hence, now with the personal initiative of Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal, they were being provided a nutritious diet to boost their immunity.
The Senior Superintendent of Police said the cops were providing duty under stressful conditions since the imposition of curfew. He said they were ensuring strict enforcement of curfew and also putting their lives at risk.
Mahal said in such hostile circumstances it was the need of the hour to strengthen their immune system by providing a nutritious diet to them. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) said the police personnel were being supplied cheese, milk, jaggery and other nutrient-rich diets on alternative days.
He said a rotation chart had been fixed as per which the diet was being ensured in all police stations falling in Jalandhar Rural.
Mahal said more such efforts would be made in the coming days to make sure that the police were able to combat the pandemic effectively and discharge their duty in a proper manner.
