One dies in car-truck collision near Kapurthala village
In a tragic road accident, one person lost his life after his car collided with a truck on the Goindwal Sahib road, near Bhawanipur village, on Friday night. The victim was identified as Taranjit Singh, nephew of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sajjan Cheema.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 11 pm when a Swift car (bearing registration number Punjab-09-AK-1321) collided with a truck belonging to Rana Sugar Mills (bearing registration number Punjab-13-AL-6305). The impact was severe that Taranjit Singh died on the spot.
The deceased was a resident of Daboolia village. He was reportedly driving car at the time of the accident. Kotwali police station SHO Kirpal Singh confirmed that the truck driver fled from the spot immediately after collision. The police have impounded both vehicles and begun an investigation into the matter. Taranjit Singh’s body was sent to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police are searching for the truck driver who is on the run.
