One held for snatching cash

Phagwara: The police have arrested a miscreant and booked two on the charge of snatching cash, a mobile and motorcycle. The accused has been identified as Kulwinder Singh, alias Gopi, of Mohalla Tala Wala, Mehat Pur, and his two accomplices. Kamaljit Singh of Muhem village complained to the police that the accused waylaid him on July 24 and snatched Rs 500, a mobile and his motorcycle (PB-08-8102). OC

Villager booked for rape

Phagwara: The police have booked a Tarn Taran village resident on the charges of raping a woman and criminal intimidation. The accused has been identified as Gurwinder Singh of Jaurra village. The victim complained to the police that the accused posted a story on social media and her photo with objectionable comments and also raped her. A case has been registered against the accused. OC

PO arrested after 13 years

Phagwara: The police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) Jatinder Singh, alias Mattu, of Meinay Wal Maulvian village absconding for the last 13 years. The accused was booked in a case of assault in 2009 and was declared a PO in 2013. The police also arrested another PO Harjit Singh of Sadik Pur village. OC

House burgled, case registered

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing electrical wires and other goods from a house.Rajdeep Singh of Green Avenue, Mohalla Santokh Garh, here complained to the police that thieves barged into his house on July 19 and stole electrical wires and other household goods. A case has been registered. OC

Stolen bike recovered

Phagwara: The police have arrested a vehicle thief and recovered a stolen Splendor motorcycle from his possession last night. The vehicle thief, identified as Partap Singh, a resident of village Palahai, was nabbed at a check-point in village Miherru near Phagwara. A case under Section 303 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered against the accused. OC

Police lodge abduction plaint

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by a migrant from Uttar Pradesh, presently residing in CRP Colony, Phagwara, the city police have registered a case against some miscreants on the charges of abducting a girl, a relative to the complainant, on the pretext of marrying her. The girl working as domestic help has been missing for the last several months. No arrests have been made so far. OC

Three stolen bikes recovered

Garhshankar: The police have recovered three stolen motorcycles from accused Balveer Kumar, alias Beeri, of Chaniyani Khurd under police station, Balachaur, and arrested him.
