According to the police, when the team attempted to stop him, Zora Singh opened fire with a pistol. In retaliatory action, the police fired back in self-defence, injuring him in the leg. He collapsed on the spot and was shifted to the Civil Hospital, Shahkot.

The police recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol, one cartridge and one empty shell from the accused. SSP Virk added that the accused already has 10 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations.
