One killed as speeding Fortuner hits motorcycle

A motorcyclist was killed on the spot while his pillion rider friend sustained serious injuries when a speeding Fortuner car, bearing the registration number Punjab-065-0007, hit their bike on the JCT flyover in Phagwara on Friday night. The Fortuner overturned after the accident. The deceased was identified as Manoj, a resident of Haibowal in Ludhiana. The injured, was identified as Hani, a resident of Bhattian village, He was admitted to the local Civil Hospital.

The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after post-mortem examination conducted at the local Civil Hospital today. It was learnt that the Fortuner belonged to a retired senior police official (SSP). The Fortuner driver managed to escape after the accident.

In another accident, a motorcyclist was killed on the spot when his bike was hit by a speeding truck near Saprod village on the national highway near Phagwara on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Jaspal Singh, a resident of Jalandhar. The truck driver managed to escape from the spot. The police have registered a case against the truck driver and sent body to the local Civil Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
