Over 400 students of Lyallpur Khalsa College were honoured during the annual prize distribution function on Monday. Dr Urmila Devi, Joint Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC), was the chief guest on the occasion.
Dr Urmila urged students to work hard to achieve their goals in life. She appreciated the management, principal and staff of the institution for their endeavours in providing value-based education to students. Principal Gurpinder Singh Samra presented the annual report of the college. He mentioned about the college’s performance in the third cycle of the NAAC re-accreditation as a major landmark for the institution
Three students of the college, Jaspreet Kaur, Udaivir Singh and Harjot Singh, were given the roll of honour in academics, sports and cultural fields, respectively, along with a cash prize of Rs 32,000.
Members of the college staff Dr Gopal Singh Buttar, Dr Arun Dev Sharma, Dr Baldev Singh, Dr Gurpreet Singh, Dr Parmod Sharma, Dr Dinkar Sharma, Dr Geetanjali Mahajan, Dr Palwinder Singh and Dr Salinder Singh were honoured for their research degrees.
418 students of DAV College awarded
To felicitate as many as 418 student achievers in academics, sports and co-curricular activities, an annual prize distribution function was held at DAV College here on Sunday.
Praveen Kumar Gupta, managing director, State Bank of India, and an alumnus of the college, presided over the function as the chief guest.
Principal SK Arora highlighted activities and achievements of the college and said the college had played an important role in improving the socio-economic condition of society.
Prizes were awarded to 418 students, including 22 gold medalists in academics, eight university toppers, 37 college colors, 153 academic achievers. Money amounting to over Rs 28 lakh was distributed among the students in the scholarship form under the ‘Kalpana Chawla Shagun Scheme’ and an amount of Rs 47,000 was also distributed as a way to encourage and motivate single girl child.
