Parkash Purb of Guru Harkrishan celebrated

Jalandhar: Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School celebrated Parkash Purb of Guru Harkrishan, the eighth Sikh master, under the guidance of committee members and Principal. Japji Sahib and Chaupai Sahib path was recited by all which was followed by shabad kirtan and students of school shabad team actively participated on this auspicious day along with committee members, principal and teachers. Blessings of Almighty were sought in ardaas for the growth of school and students. Member in-charges Amrik Singh, Jagjit Singh Gabha, Jagjit Singh Uppal, Himmat Singh and Principal Sumanjeet Kaur congratulated the staff and students for their good results. Sikh Missionary College organised Gurbani competition for the students. The celebration followed by Guru Ka Langar.

Kargil Vijay Diwas observed

Remembering the sacrifices of brave soldiers who gave their life to protect our nation, Kargil Vijay Diwas was organised at STS World School by Grade VIII students under the guidance of their class in-charge Loveleen Kaur. This assembly was organised to pay homage to the martyrs and to remember the supreme sacrifices made by our brave soldiers, to uphold and safeguard the integrity of the nation. Comperer of the assembly were Harjot kaur and Shehneet Kaur, thought of the day was shared by Prabhdeep Kaur. Arsheep Kaur updated everyone with current happenings. A speech highlighting the background of Kargil Vijay Diwas was presented by Nandita Chumber. Simrandeep Kaur recited a poem dedicated to the soldiers. Students of Class VIII performed dance on a patriotic song. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the students and gave more information about Vijay Diwas.

School organises Jashan-e-Swagat

In DIPS School, Jashan-e-Swagat was organised to adjust children to the school environment. The children reached the school dressed in Punjabi attire. The programme started with Gurbani singing. After this the children danced on Punjabi, Hindi and English songs and presented plays on various social issues like save water, school environment and family themes. The junior class students thanked the senior class students by making cards. Children displayed their talent and presented poems, speeches and songs. All students jumped in the atmosphere of fun and enjoyed the school day. Teachers told the children that school was their second home. So they should live in harmony with their friends. Juniors should always obey what their seniors have to say. Principal Ashish said that while studying in school, fun is also necessary but we should follow the rules here.

New academic session begins

At Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, new academic session 2022-23 commenced with much energy, spirit, zeal and vivacity. Students were much excited about attending the college and the whole environment of KMV campus resounded with youthful energy and vibration. Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that being an autonomous institution, it has many advantages. “The syllabi of all programmes have been upgraded to meet the requirements of 21st century.Dwivedi congratulated the young girls and said the college would help them shape up their personalities to become the global citizens.

5 of hans raj Vidyalaya clear CA Inter Exam

Five students of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya have brought laurels to the institution by clearing CA Intermediate Examination. Arpita and Komal cleared CA Inter Exam Group –II by scoring 239 marks and 211 marks, respectively. Ravneet Kaur got 226/400 marks, Shruti Sharma 206/400 marks and Inderpreet Kaur got 200/400 marks. These three students have cleared CA Inter Exam Group-I. Principal Ajay Sareen congratulated the head of department Meenu Kohli, faculty members and students for this achievement.

Free cataract surgery camp

CT Group of Institutions, South Campus, under its corporate social responsibility activity in association with Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana, and Youth Voice Foundation, Jalandhar, held a free eye screening camp in which more than 400 locals from nearby villages participated and got themselves screened.

This was the third free cataract surgery camp since year 2021 by the CT Group. A team of ophthalmologists from Sankara Eye Hospital namely Ravinder Pal Chawla, unit head; surgeon Utkarsh; surgeon Diviyanshu and GNM Gurmeet Kaur screened the patients and shortlisted 50 patients for free cataract surgeries at the hospital. Besides, more than 150 locals pledged to donate their eyes with Sankara Eye Hospital. CT Group Managing Director Manbir Singh said, “This is a part of joint longstanding commitment of CT Group of Institutions and Sankara Eye Hospital under social welfare with an aim to provide free eye care services to the economically disadvantaged people of Jalandhar. We have a mutual aim to have 100 cataract backlog free villages by December 2022.”

Talent hunt event

“Participating in cultural events along with studies and sports is very important in student’s life. It not only develop the skills of the students but also boosts their morale”. These words were expressed by Dr Manmohanjit Singh, Director, Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri. The event was organised to explore cultural arts among students.

In the event, students presented folk songs, folk dances, poetry, skits, mimicry, etc. Boys and girls of agriculture college presented 19 items under different categories to the audience. The entire audience appreciated the presentations of Punjabi culture in the ‘Talent Hunt’ event and enjoyed the programme.Dr Manmohanjit Singh attended the event as chief guest. Dr Varun Attri, in charge of the event, thanked the audience. All students, teachers and staff of the Regional Research Station and Agriculture College, Ballowal Saunkhri, participated in the programme.

POEM RECITATION COntest

Cambridge International School, Phagwara, organised an inter-house English poetry recitation competition for classes 1 and 2. The theme for the competition was ‘Nature’. The preliminary round was conducted for all students. About 30 students from each grade were selected for final round. The young poets enthralled the audience with their articulation and memory skills while reciting poems. Students were judged on the parameters like expression, content, fluency, pronunciation, confidence and overall presentation. Mayansh from Grade 1 bagged the first position, Akalveer, Kanan Gupta, Maurya bagged the second position, Sana and Parnika stood third. Vidhi Wadhwa and Dhriti got consolation prize. Nymah Rawal stood first, Hemakshi, Aarik Jalota and Samridhi Khanna bagged the second position, Aditya Kapoor, Nimrat and Tanish stood third, Manya, Vivaan, Gurasees, Beyaa and Bhavnoor got consolation prize. Chairperson Jasbir Kaur Bassi and school Principal Jorawar Singh appreciated and congratulated each and every student for their outstanding performance.

Sports Competition organised

Eklavya School organised a sports competition for boys and girls in different age groups. Sack and frog race games were played by primary students in the school ground. School chairman JK Gupta said, “The games attempt to bring out hidden talent in the students and improved teamwork.” More than 60 students participated in the sports events. There were two types of games—Frog race for class 1 and 2 and sack race for Class 3 and 4 students. Frog race winners (Class 1) Navraj Saroj, Ansh Kumar and Kirat Kaur; (Class 2) Jaskaran Singh, Yahoshua and Divyansh Kumar. Winners of sack race (Class 3) Harnoor, Sahibjot and Navdeep Kaur; (Class 4) Kushveer, Tanmay and Ramandeep Kaur.

Home Science Workshop

KCL Collegiate Sr. Sec. School for Girls organised a home science workshop. In the workshop, demonstrations about how to make delicious sandwiches like Bombay sandwich, mix-veg sandwich, cheese-corn sandwich and chip dip were given. Home science students of Class XI and XII participated with zeal in the workshop and learnt creative ways of making sandwiches. Dr Navjot, Principal, LKCW, appreciated Harpreet Kaur, school in-charge, for conducting the workshop.

Saplings planted

The NSS unit of Doaba College under the banner of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” Government of India programme, organised a tree plantation drive celebrating Van Mahotsav. Principal Pardeep Bhandari, Dr Arshdeep Singh, NSS coordinator, Prof Sukhvinder Singh, coordinator “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and NSS volunteers participated in the event and planted saplings of amaltas, gulmohar and bottle brush on the campus.

Principal Pardeep Bhandari encouraged the participants to adopt trees and become their caretakers. He explained the aesthetic value associated with flowering trees and how these trees add to the beautification of campus. Dr Arshdeep Singh, coordinator, NSS, also motivated students to plant trees in their societies to increase green cover. Dr Rakesh Kumar, department of botany, explained to the participants the flowering time and nutrient requirement of these trees.

Students shine in ICSE results

Students of Indo Swiss International Convent School shine the ICSE Class XII examination, results of which were declared recently. The first three position holders were Baljinder Singh (93 per cent in science stream), Amandeep (88.25 per cent in commerce stream) and Simranjeet Kaur (86 per cent in commerce stream). The members of the school management, Vipan Sharma, Jyoti Sharma and Shivam Sharma, congratulated the students and their parents on the occasion. The school management also appreciated the efforts put in by the school staff.

SD Model School students excel

Students of local SD Model School, Jindan Road, Jalandhar Cantt, bagged 100 per cent result in the Class X ICSE board exam results. Manjit Kaur stood first by scoring 95.5 per cent marks while two students—Nidhi and Kirat—bagged the second position jointly by scoring 93.5 per cent marks. Vinayak Sharma stood third with 93.16 per cent. Of the 68 students appeared in the exam, 63 got first division and five students second division. School Principal Babita Joshi and teachers congratulated the students and their parents.
