Patient with severe facial deformity operated upon successfully
Dr Chintan Narad, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, has given a new lease of life to a patient suffering from a debilitating facial deformity. The patient, endured facial deformity and associated challenges for over a decade.
The injury, which damaged the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) on both sides of the jaw, made Ritesh unable to open his mouth. This condition impacted his ability to eat, rendering him malnourished. The restricted growth of his facial structures due to childhood trauma led to a pronounced facial deformity. To worsen matters, his condition caused snoring and sleep apnea, affecting his sleep quality.
Dr Chintan Narad performed a bilateral temporomandibular joint replacement surgery, a complex procedure. This surgery restored Ritesh’s ability to open his mouth and enhanced his facial structure and profile, enabling Ritesh to eat properly and in public. The surgery also addressed his snoring and sleep apnea, improving his overall quality of life.
Dr Narad also presented this case and research at the International Conference of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Vancouver, garnering international acclaim.
