Pensioners to protest on August 7 in Phagwara
Phagwara, August 3
Irate government employees, including pensioners belonging to The Punjab Employees and the Pensioners Joint Front, Phagwara, have announced to hold a protest in support of their long-pending demands on August 7.
The protesters will burn effigy of the Punjab Government in the Municipal Corporation office park, Phagwara, on the day of the protest.
Mohinder Singh Bhatti, president of the Punjab Pensioners Welfare Association, along with senior vice-president Seetal Ram Banga, stated that the protest is being organised in response to the state government’s repeated delay in addressing and implementing their legitimate demands. The leaders expressed frustration over the government’s avoidance of meetings to discuss their concerns, leading to this planned demonstration. — OC
