The Hindustan Welfare Blood Donor Club (HWBDC), Phagwara, will host its 31st annual blood donation camp and “Samman Samaroh” at Maharaja Palace, Phagwara, on September 14. Established over three decades ago by Pardeep Bedi, the club has become a trusted name in humanitarian service, especially in promoting voluntary blood donation.
Since its registration as a society in 2000, HWBDC has collected nearly 65,000 units of blood, saving an estimated one lakh lives. The club’s commitment to voluntary blood donation is evident, with more than 3,000 units collected annually for the past 13 years, earning consistent recognition from the Punjab Government.
Under the leadership of President Pandit Rahul Sharma and General Secretary Vitin Puri, HWBDC has expanded its work to include various welfare activities. The club is affiliated with the Federation of Indian Blood Donor Organisations (FIBDO), Youth Services Punjab, MY BHARAT, and Red Cross Punjab.
HWBDC’s helplines—86996-00505, 96996-60555 and 86996-00666—operate 24/7 to arrange blood units in Phagwara and across India. The upcoming camp on September 14 is expected to surpass the success of last year’s event, which saw 1,196 donors and over 4,000 participants.
The “Sanman Samaroh” will recognise and honour donors and supporters who have contributed to the club’s mission, reflecting its ongoing commitment to service and community welfare.
