Phagwara institutions mark International Yoga Day with mass participation, focus on wellness

International Yoga Day 2025 was celebrated with great fervour across Phagwara, with major educational institutions including Lovely Professional University (LPU), GNA University, DAV College and Pushpa Gujral Science City organising dedicated events to promote physical, mental and emotional well-being through yoga.

At Lovely Professional University, hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and NCC/NSS cadets took part in a large-scale yoga session led by senior Art of Living mentor Dr Rameshwar. Participants practiced Pranayama techniques such as Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, and Bhramari, along with therapeutic postures aimed at addressing lifestyle disorders. The presence of Col Dipankar Singh and Col Vishal Mundar underscored the universal relevance of yoga. LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, in his address, encouraged students to adopt yoga as a daily discipline to develop inner strength and clarity.

Mohan Lal Uppal DAV College, under the guidance of Principal Dr Kiranjit Randhawa, also observed the day with enthusiastic participation from students and staff. The session emphasized the role of yoga in reducing stress, enhancing focus, and fostering holistic growth. Dr. Randhawa highlighted yoga’s accessibility and its importance in today’s fast-paced life for people of all ages.

At Pushpa Gujral Science City, a special yoga event was conducted with Col. Sewa Singh as the resource person. The session was centered on the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, highlighting yoga’s role in nurturing both individual well-being and environmental awareness. Director Dr Rajesh Grover emphasised that yoga helps reduce stress and supports mental clarity, while being suitable for all age groups.

Through these diverse programs, Phagwara showcased its collective commitment to health, mindfulness, and sustainable living, reinforcing yoga’s timeless value in modern society.
