Phagwara man gets FOG Icon Award in California
Renowned cardiologist Dr Romesh Japra, founder of the Festival of Globe (FOG) in Silicon Valley, California, presented the FOG Icon Award and Commendation Certificate to Raman Nehra, a well-known social worker from Phagwara, Punjab.
The award ceremony, held in Fremont, California, honoured Nehra for his dedication to promoting Indian culture, values and philanthropic service both in India and among the diaspora.
The recognition highlights Nehra’s long-standing commitment to social causes, especially through his leadership roles in several organisations, including the Khatri Mahasabha Punjab, Human Rights Council India (Anti-Corruption Cell), and Vishwa Hindu Sangh.
Dr Japra, accompanied by FOG Parade Chairman KP Maheshwari and FOG president Rajesh Verma, praised Nehra’s tireless efforts in inspiring Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to stay connected with their roots while contributing to India’s development.
The event witnessed participation from prominent community members including Sanjeev Sharma, Ratika Japra Pal, Sameena Japra Pal, Jayant Panda, Rajesh Gupta, Madhu Gupta, Ashish Khurana and several others, making it a memorable celebration of Indo-American solidarity.
