Phagwara: A woman was molested by a miscreant in the posh locality of Hargobind Nagar in Phagwara on Monday morning. The woman was going to Model Town Gurdwara to pay obeisance when the accused struck, snatched her ear-rings and molested her.The woman defended herself, forcing the snatcher to escape. The police were informed. As per CCTV footage, the accused was seen running towards Tehsil side on the slip road. oc

Villager held for liquor sale

Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have arrested a person for selling illicit country-made liquor. Investigating Officer Parwinder Singh said that 10 bottles of hooch and 105 kg of lahan (raw liquor) were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Makhann Singh, a resident of Mundi Shehariyan village. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused. oc

1 more held for firing at farmer

Phagwara: The Nurmahal police have arrested the seventh accused on the charge of firing at a farmer in a village. The accused had been identified as Deepak Kumar of Patti in Taran Tarn. Resham Singh of Sunner Kalan village had complained to the police that he was going to his fields on his tractor to bring paddy seedlings on July 8 around 7 am when a bike-borne accused waylaid and fired at him and the gunshot pierced his left thigh. Six accused had been arrested.
