Phagwara: Two arrested for assault

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Dharam Paul, a resident of Bhularai village, the police have arrested two persons under Sections 323, 341, 506 and 34 of the IPC on the charges of attacking and injuring the complainant at his house on Saturday night. The suspects have been identified as Sonu and Gurmit, residents of Bhularai village. Further investigations are on in the case. OC

Three booked for attacking woman

Phagwara: The Rawalpindi police have booked three youths on the charges of entering the house, attacking a woman and abusing her on Saturday night. On a complaint lodged by Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of Malikpur village, a case under Sections 323, 452, 354, 345-B, 506 and 34 of the IPC has been registered. The suspects have been identified as Sherbir Singh, Dilbag Singh and Mahinder Singh, all residents of Rawalpindi village. No arrest has been made so far. OC

Couple held in dowry case

Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a couple on the charge of dowry harassment. Investigating officer (IO) Avtar Lal said the suspects had been identified as Bhajan Singh, a resident of Gorsian Nihal village, and his wife Surinder Kaur. In her complaint to the police, Jaspreet Kaur, a resident of Burj Kela village, said her in-laws were torturing her for dowry ever since her marriage. Investigating officer Avtar Lal said a case under Sections 406 (breach of trust) and 498-A (torturing woman for dowry) of the IPC was registered against the suspects and their son Gagandeep Singh, who is still absconding. Woman’s purse, mobile snatched

Phagwara: Two unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a purse and a mobile phone from a woman here on Saturday. The victim, Rajwinder Kaur, told the police that two motorcycle-borne persons pointed a sword at her and snatched her purse and the mobile phone on the Mao Sahib-Bilga Road on Saturday evening. Investigating officer Avtar Lal said the police reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.
