An exhibition organised to mark Nature Photography Day at Pushpa Gujral Science City in Kapurthala.

Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated Nature Photography Day was observed by organising an exhibition on ‘Nature Photography’ by Pushpa Gujral Science City. The motive of the event was to create awareness among general masses about nature.

Photographs taken by renowned photographer Karamvir Singh Sandhu and Sarbjit Pandher were exhibited on the occasion.

Nature photography is a powerful tool for the preservation of nature in all its forms. Lockdown played a vital role in restoring the Earth’s depleting resources. Dr Neelima Jerath, Director General, Science City, said the day is celebrated to promote nature and to explain how images are used to advance the cause of conservation and protect plants, wildlife and landscapes — both locally and globally.

She emphasised upon celebrating the day as an opportunity to get out into the world and take a closer look of nature through photography.

Sandhu shared his experiences of capturing nature photographs of different species of butterflies. He said nature photography is a powerful tool for the preservation of nature in all its forms. He said lockdown played a very vital role in restoring the Earth’s depleting resources. The drop in pollution and noise levels boosted the butterfly population in several places across the country.

Dr Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City, said the world is full of natural beauty and wonder. He said one of the best ways of being able to admire and experience the supreme magnificence of the natural world is to capture it on camera.
