Police arrest 2 professional thieves, recover 170g stolen gold jewellery
The Jalandhar Rural police have arrested two professional thieves, identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Bagga and Prince Pradeep Singh, and recovered stolen gold jewellery worth several lakhs from their possession. The thieves had stolen approximately 170g of gold jewellery from a locked wardrobe during a wedding ceremony at Kutbewal village here on January 23.
According to SSP Harkanwalpreet Singh Khakh, the police team worked meticulously using human intelligence and modern technological tools to crack the case. The accused were arrested on January 26, and all stolen items were recovered following their police remand.
The recovered items include two sets, two gold ladies’ bangles, one gold chain, one gold bracelet for gents, four gold rings, and one gold baby pendant.
SSP Khakh revealed that the main accused, Gurpreet Singh alias Bagga, has a previous criminal record. Both accused have been booked under Sections 305, 331(3), and 317(2) of the BNS at the Lohian police station, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover any additional criminal activities.
