Police begin campaign to make students aware about road signs

Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Traffic, Upkar Singh, the traffic police have launched a campaign to make school students aware of traffic signs.

As part of the campaign, flex boards displaying various traffic signs were installed at Montgomery Guru Nanak Public School and MDSD Senior Secondary School, Mall Road, with the support of Lions Club, Kapurthala.

DSP Upkar Singh said that educating students about traffic signs is the need of the hour. The goal is to make children aware of these signs from school age so that they can become responsible road users in the future. He added that such awareness activities will continue in the future to help reduce road accidents and improve traffic safety.

Speaking on the occasion, social worker Sukhwinder Mohan Singh Bhatia said that displaying traffic posters in schools will help children understand road safety rules early. It will also help them when they apply for a driving licence after turning 18.

Lions Club president Sarwan Singh and Surjit Singh also shared that it is important for students to learn about different types of traffic signs – including warning, prohibition and information – to prevent serious road accidents.

Many prominent individuals were present at the event, including Rajinder Singh, vice-principal of MGN School, Rakesh Mahajan, Administrator of MDSD School, Lions Club secretary Arshpreet Singh, Chairman Bhupinder Singh, Prashant Sharma, Director Kuldeep Singh, Harnake Singh, Dr Kulvinder Singh, Surjit Singh Rattanpal, Mandeep Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Balwinder Singh.
