The Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, Dhanpreet Kaur, convened a strategic meeting on Saturday at Police Lines, Jalandhar, aimed at strengthening crime prevention measures and ensuring a safer environment for residents.
The meeting was attended by senior officers, including the Joint CP, DCP Investigation, ADCP Investigation, ADCP Headquarters, along with all ACPs, SHOs and Unit In-Charges of the city.
Key directives issued during the meeting included a comprehensive crime review, intensified patrolling, special operations, targeted campaigns and enhanced traffic management strategies.
A detailed analysis of crime reports was conducted, with a focus on actions taken against snatching, robberies and other serious incidents. The review also covered pending cases to ensure faster investigations and timely filing of charge sheets. Orders were given for intensified patrolling to prevent theft, robberies and street crimes, with special emphasis on night patrolling and ensuring police presence in vulnerable areas to deter criminal activities.
It was also announced that targeted campaigns will be launched against organised crime, drug trafficking and habitual offenders. Dedicated anti-harassment teams will be deployed near schools, colleges and marketplaces to combat eve-teasing and harassment.
The CP confirmed that strict enforcement of traffic regulations will continue, with particular focus on curbing drunken driving and over-speeding. Additional personnel will be deployed at accident-prone and high-traffic areas.
Additionally, public awareness will be raised about emergency helplines, including 112 (emergency) and 1091 (women’s helpline). Dedicated social media teams will enhance communication and provide real-time updates to the public.
The CP also highlighted the need to further specialise the cyber cell to tackle financial frauds, identity theft and online harassment. Trained personnel will be deployed to address online fraud, identity theft and financial crimes. The enhanced use of CCTV surveillance and data-driven approaches will also be implemented to identify and apprehend criminals more swiftly.
