To make Kapurthala district crime-free, the district police headed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Tura have begun cordon-and-search operations (CASO) in which senior officials from the department will lead and conduct the search operations against snatchers, robbers, thieves and drug smugglers.

In this direction, Phagwara Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur Bhatti conducted search operations at various places including village Rawalpindi and Jagpalpur in the wee hours on Tuesday. The police team headed by SHO, Rawalpindi, conducted searches at different houses on grounds of suspicion.

Meanwhile, SSP, Kapurthala, Gaurav Tura said the exercise was being conducted to assure the masses that the police were always there for their safety and protection and these search operations would help curb crime.

Meanwhile, in a continuous series of village/ward defence committee meetings in Phagwara sub-division, Superintendent of Police Rupinder Kaur Bhatti along with DSP Bharat Bhushan and SHO (City) Amandeep Nahar held important meetings of “ward defence committees” in rural and urban areas of Phagwara sub-division on Monday. Bhatti appealed to the residents to come forward and inform about any criminal activity. The identity of the informer would be kept secret, she assured.

SP Bhatti said the police were holding ward-wise defence committee meetings to bridge the gap between police and public and understand their requirements to cater to them in a better way.
