Preparations reviewed for nagar kirtan to mark 350th martyrdom anniv of Guru Tegh Bahadur

A review meeting to oversee preparations for the grand nagar kirtan being organised to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur was held at the District Administrative Complex, Hoshiarpur. The meeting was chaired by Punjab Cabinet Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Harjot Singh Bains.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Deepak Bali, Department Secretary Dr Abhinav Trikha, MLAs and senior officials. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain welcomed the dignitaries and assured that all arrangements for receiving the Nagar Kirtan would be executed flawlessly.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, “The Punjab Government is celebrating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with devotion and pride. This nagar kirtan will not only honour his supreme sacrifice but also spread his message of peace, courage and humanity across generations.”

He informed that the nagar kirtan will commence from Srinagar on November 19, 2025, reach Pathankot on November 20 and enter Hoshiarpur on November 21, halting overnight at Gurdwara Rampur Khera via Mukerian and Dasuya. On November 22, the procession will pass through Hariana town and reach Hoshiarpur city, where it will be accorded a magnificent ‘Guard of Honour’.

Advisor Deepak Bali said, “It will be a moment of great pride for Hoshiarpur as the holy Nagar Kirtan receives a grand Guard of Honour. Along the route, devotees will welcome it with floral showers, langar seva and immense enthusiasm.”

Announcing another highlight of the commemoration, Minister Bains stated, “A grand light and sound show depicting the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be held from November 1 to 18 at Lajwanti Stadium.
