The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department is running a special campaign to reach out to farmers on avoiding stubble burning. Many progressive farmers of the district have done commendable work, one of whom, Amrik Singh of village Talwandi, has been using the technique for three years successfully.

Amrik Singh had adopted the method of mixing the stubble in the field using Super Seeder technology instead of burning it. He and his brother Harjeet Singh Tony cultivate wheat and paddy in a total of 87 acres. For the last three years, they have been sowing wheat by mixing paddy stubble in the field. Amrik Singh says that he has never burnt stubble. Following his example, other farmers had also gradually started managing stubble by using Super Seeder. He says that by mixing straw in the field, the fertility of his land increased and he does not need to apply more fertiliser than recommended, which reduced his expenses and also increased his net income.

Amrik Singh was also honoured by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Hoshiarpur, in 2023.
