PTU celebrates foundation day
Kapurthala, January 16
IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) celebrated the 28th foundation day on the main campus here today.
Two alumni — industrialist Vikram Goyal and PPS officer Kanwar Veer Pratap Singh— were invited as the guest of honour. The programme was organised by the planning and external planning department of the university under the leadership of Dean RPS Bedi. It started with shabad gaayan.
In the keynote address as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Dr Susheel Mittal said, “Now is the time to move forward with new responsibilities every day, everyone should work together with dedication.” In the context of the present times, he said that today every day is about doing something new, only then we will be able to move forward. Dr Mittal also talked about taking concrete steps to advance the university’s academics, increase the ranking and further strengthen the financial condition of the university. He informed the university team about its future plans.
Maa Saraswati Vandana was performed with lighting the lamp. University Registrar SK Misra read the welcome message from the stage of the ceremony. He congratulated all the stakeholders on the foundation day.
Both alumni industrialist Vikram Goyal and PPS officer Kanwar Veer Pratap Singh were honoured. Meanwhile, a book translated into Punjabi by university faculty Dr Sarabjit Singh Maan and a handbook prepared by the college development department was released on the stage. The vote of thanks was presented by Dean Academics Vikas Chawla.
On this special day, Sukhmani Sahib path was recited in the university and Guru ka Langar was distributed continuously. In the end, bhangra, the identity of Punjabi heritage, was added.
