Public cleanliness pledge marks Indian Swachhata Day

The Swachhata Abhiyan Society (regd), Phagwara, organised a special event at Geeta Bhavan, Katraha Chowk, to commemorate Indian Swachhata (Cleanliness) Day. The programme was held under the guidance of Chairman Madan Mohan Khattar and presided over by President Ashish Gandhi, with notable support from the Geeta Bhavan Coaching Centre.

As part of the initiative, members of the Swachhata Abhiyan Society, students of the coaching centre and passersby took a cleanliness pledge, committing themselves to maintain cleanliness, avoid littering, discourage others from doing so and promote proper waste disposal through the use of dustbins.

The event was graced by Ashwini Sudhir of Sudhir Sweets as the chief guest. Other prominent attendees included Madam Seema, Councillor Mamta Khosla, and Ishu Wadhawan, President of the Hanuman Mandir Management Committee.

Addressing the gathering, President Ashish Gandhi stressed that cleanliness should not be confined to a single day but must become a daily civic responsibility. He emphasised that individual and collective efforts in maintaining clean homes, streets and neighbourhoods are key to achieving a cleaner and more beautiful India. He further noted that cleanliness plays a crucial role in safeguarding the environment, public health, and the well-being of future generations.

Students from Geeta Bhavan Coaching Center-Dhanvi, Nandini, Anshika, Reshmi, Poonam, Munni, Muskaan, Kajal, Shalu, Priyanka, Kritika, Neha, and Manisha-along with their teachers Maya Madam and Vanshika, actively participated in the pledge and awareness activities, contributing enthusiastically to the success of the programme.
