Jalandhar: The Punjab Publishers Association on Monday unanimously elected Balwant Sharma of the MBD group as its president at a meeting held here. Publishers from across the state participated in the election process. MBD group executive director Balwant Sharma said: “The new body of office-bearers will be appointed soon.” He said the priority of the association would be to keep the tab on booksellers who sell duplicate books and indulge in photocopying of books and sell them by using unfair means. He further said the association would boycott booksellers selling books illegally and would take necessary legal action against the accused booksellers. TNS
French study centre at LPU
Phagwara: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has emerged as India’s first university to open ‘Espace France Centre’ at its campus for French studies and activities, which will become the key centre in the country for French activities including cultural, language, education and diplomacy. Opening of the centre at the LPU campus will further strengthen cooperation between two strong nations. Around 300 MoUs have been signed between Indian and French universities. OC
