A day after Jalandhar Tribune reported that the government school students who were participating in the Republic Day parade were made to perform without winter wear, the district administration on Thursday provided pullovers to the students participating in the district-level event.

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said it was observed that students were practising in cold weather conditions, hence, it was decided to provide them warm sweaters so that students are able to cope up with the harsh weather conditions. He said these students were performing in the national festival with patriotic fervour.

The DC said it was the bounden duty of the district administration to ensure the safety of students in wake of inclement weather conditions. Sarangal said it would also help in saving the students from the cold weather. The DC said as a goodwill gesture these sweaters had been distributed through the district Red Cross Society. Jalandhar Tribune had reported that the students were being made to brave the harsh cold weather during the full dress rehearsal yesterday as no woollen jersey in a uniform pattern had been provided to them. The kids were seen wearing plain, white cotton half-sleeve shirts.
