Phagwara, January 16

Noted philanthropist Surinder Mittal has urged the state government to launch a large-scale campaign for thorough screening of Blue Card holders and register criminal cases against those enjoying the facility in an illegal way.

Talking to media persons here today, Mittal alleged that several rich farmers in the cities and villages, people owning two-three vehicles, businessmen and people with high income have got Blue Cards in an illegal way and are siphoning away government ration meant for the poor.

He said the Food Supply Department should immediately take cognisance of the illegal activity and stop their ration and take strict action by registering a criminal case for fraud and wrongful taking of government ration by preparing fake documents.

Mittal said the illegal activity was continuing despite CM Bhagwant Mann having stated that strict action would be taken against such people. He said a written complaint in the matter would be submitted to the competent authorities.
