Reading month celebrated
Jalandhar: Ivy World School announced the celebration of reading month from June 19 to July 18. The initiative aims to foster the habit of reading among students and encourage literary pursuits. Throughout this period, the school conducted various engaging activities such as reading competitions, writing book reports and reviews, ‘Know the Author’ sessions, book donation drives and storytelling activities. KK Vasal, president, Vasal Education Society, expressed his delight saying that reading is the foundation of knowledge and wisdom and should be accessible to all.
Isha shines in BCA exam
Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya student Isha Arora of BCA Semester VI got the first position of Guru Nanak Dev University and brought laurels for the college. Isha Arora got 2,103 marks out of 2,400. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen congratulated the student, Head of Department, Sangeeta Arora, and other faculty members.
Orientation Programme
Apeejay College of Fine Arts organised a special orientation session for students of commerce who had opted for the different UG and PG programmes. The session was centred around sharing with the students vital information related to activities organised by college in general and Department of Commerce and Management. The students were informed of the numerous opportunities that the college offers for their overall grooming and also the placement records. Dr Monika Mogla and Dr Manisha encouraged the students to have a more proactive approach to learning. District Swimming C’ship held
Emm Aar International School announced the achievements of Gunamay Pratap Singh at the District Swimming Championship for boys and girls organised by the District Swimming Association. Gunamay displayed outstanding performance across multiple categories, securing impressive positions in each event he participated in. In the 50-m freestyle, he bagged the third position. He excelled in the 100-m freestyle by securing second position. He showcased his skills in the 100-m backstroke and got third position, and demonstrated his prowess in the 50-m breaststroke by securing second position. Gunamay thanked his teachers, school management, and his swimming coach Ravi Kumar and Mukesh Kumar for their unwavering support and guidance. Principal Navdeep Vashisht and School Coordinator Ridhi Dadhwal congratulated Gunamay on his outstanding performance.
Spring Dale win Basketball tourney
Amritsar: Displaying the sporting skills, Spring Daleans proved their mettle by winning the District level Basketball Tournament organised by the Police department. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, said the basketball team of the school was adjudged as winners in the U-14 and U-17 (Boys) categories, during the district level basketball tournament organised by the Commissionerate Police, Amritsar. Sandhu shared that the tournament based on the theme “Punjab Says No To Drugs” was organised as a social sensitization campaign by the Police department against the drug menace and an effort to conserve the pristine glory of Punjab. Principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said in his message that Spring Dale Senior School has been an ally to the Police Department in all their endeavours of social outreach and youth empowerment.
Nelson Mandela Day celebrated
A slogan-writing competition was held on today at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Chabhal, to promote awareness about South African Nobel peace prize winner and political activist, Nelson Mandela. Students from grade VI participated to take inspiration from the bold thinking of Nelson Mandela. They not only presented a panorama of drawing sheets but also worked dexterously to inspire through catchy slogans. The school management and Principal motivated the pupils to be brave leaders in their lives like Nelson Mandela. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners.
Faculty development programme
Khalsa College of Education, GT Road, organised a seven-day online faculty development programme on the subject of teacher preparation according to the changing paradigm of higher education. Organised in collaboration with the college principal Dr. Khushwinder Kumar, this program was inaugurated by Professor Parvinder Singh, VC of Rayat Bahra University, Mohali and on the last day, Professor Ashwani Bhalla, Deputy Director, Higher Education Department (Punjab Government) concluded the programme by giving his presentation. Dr Kumar said every day eminent personalities from the field of higher education played the role of resource persons. During this faculty development programme, all the resource persons presented their views on the main pillars of higher education, teachers, students, teacher learning process and management in the context of Education Policy-2020 and emphasized on the use of new techniques and technology in education, but they discussed the challenges and problems coming in the field of education and tried to find their solution.
Manisha shines in BSc (IT) exams
Students of DAV College, Amritsar, are persistently getting top positions in the university merit list. In a recent development, Manisha Vinayak of BSc IT of 6th semester has bagged second position in university merit list, by securing 1,920 marks out of 2,300. Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta and Prof Vikram Sharma congratulated the merit holder and applauded the efforts and hard work of the student in achieving these positions. Dr Gupta said the innovative teaching and learning methods of the college have helped the students to excel in academics.
African graduates honoured
Phagwara: Lovely Professional University (LPU) organised the third edition of the “ASU Congregation Ceremony for African Students-2024”. The event witnessed the presence of top international delegates and dignitaries. The event was graced by Anisa Kapufi Mbega, High Commissioner of Tanzania to India. LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal presided over the event. The ceremony marked the graduation of students representing 27 different African countries. Mbega emphasised the importance of cooperation between Africa and India, extending beyond education to areas such as research in higher institutions. /OC
