Jalandhar, August 22

AGI Infra Ltd, a city-based real estate firm, has taken a step towards environmental sustainability as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives by launching a project named ‘Guru Nanak Pavitar Jungle’ here today. Under this, the company aims to plant 10,000 trees across its residential projects on 66ft road to combat rising pollution and global warming.

As part of the initiative, AGI Infra Ltd has also signed a memorandum with the Eco Sikh Foundation, an NGO dedicated to environmental causes, to establish two mini-forests within their residential projects. The company has allocated seven kanal of land for these forests, with initial plantation work already underway.

Sukhdev Singh, Managing Director of AGI Infra Ltd, emphasised the corporate sector’s role in environmental protection, highlighting the importance of reducing pollution, conserving energy, and supporting clean energy projects to ensure a healthier planet for future generations.

“These mini-forests will be developed using the Miyawaki method, a highly effective Japanese technique that creates dense, fast-growing forests. Unlike traditional forests, Miyawaki plantations feature a diverse mix of trees and plants that grow rapidly, attracting a variety of wildlife and enhancing biodiversity. The forests also contribute to cleaner air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen with minimal maintenance required after the initial growth period,” he added.
