Red Cross Centre holds anti-drug awareness camp in Nawanshahr

Jalandhar, July 11

The Red Cross Drug Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Nawanshahr held a drug awareness camp at Government High School, Paniali Kalan, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiative today.

The event, led by Shivdular Singh Dhillon (IAS retd), Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society’s state branch, was presided over by officiating Principal Rupinder Kaur.

Project Director Chaman Singh provided students with an insightful overview of the Red Cross’s origin and mission He emphasised its commitment to protect lives and foster mutual respect and peace among people.

He highlighted the challenges of substance abuse among adolescents, noting that despite awareness, many young individuals continue to engage in drug use due to academic pressures and peer influence. Singh stressed the importance of parental and familial involvement, alongside school-based interventions, to combat the problem effectively.

Counsellor Jaswinder Kaur addressed the audience, detailing the centre’s services and urging the community to safeguard their children against societal vices.

The principal expressed gratitude to the Red Cross team for their enlightening session.
