Chaman Singh, Project Director of IRCA, addressed the gathering and emphasised the significance of school-based drug awareness programmes. He suggested that such initiatives should include presentations, workshops and counselling sessions to educate students about the severe consequences of drug abuse. Singh also highlighted the need to equip students with essential life skills to build resilience, make informed decisions and cope with challenging situations. He stressed that these skills can empower young people to live a fulfilling life without resorting to drugs or alcohol, and confidently refuse substances when faced with pressure.

Dr Sandeep Bangar, MD Psychiatrist at Civil Hospital Nawanshahr, also spoke at the seminar. He warned students about the dangers of drug addiction and its far-reaching impact on individuals, families and society. He encouraged students to prioritise their education and become responsible citizens who contribute positively to their communities.
