Advertisement ad hoc committee chairman Neerja Jain is going to take up the matter of staff shortage in advertisement wing with Mayor Jagdish Raja. Until now, two meetings have been held and it was asked by the chairman to remove illegal hoardings and advertisements in the city, but due to the dearth of the staff, the work is not being done properly, the chairman has shared the concern.

“The meetings were held, but because of the presence of only two staff members in the branch, the illegal hoardings were not getting removed,” one of the members of the branch said.

Also, it has come to the fore that there were several advertisements and hoardings that were installed in the city but the MC was not getting any payment for the same, the sources have said. As per the information, the detailed information has been sought on this issue.

According to the chairman, there was one superintendant for both Tehbazari and advertisement branches, because of which it becomes difficult to handle the work of two departments.

“The Tehbazari dept officials remain busy in various issues like Sunday market and recovery of the plastic bags etc, in this scenario, members do not get time to remove illegal hoardings and more staff is required. That is how, Jalandhar will be able to get cleaned,” the members said.

“The branch members have also been saying that it was not easy to work with staff shortage. If we only keep on holding the meetings and results are not visible, then how would be able to keep our city clean” the ad hoc committee sources said.

Notably, the committees were formed in the starting of this month, but until now, several issues pertaining to respective branches are becoming obstacles in the work.
