Renowned litterateur appointed as member of advisory committee

The Official Language Department of the Home Ministry, Government of India, has nominated renowned litterateur Dr Dharmapal Sahil as a non-official member of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Labour and Employment in recognition of his literary achievements.

It is noteworthy that Dr Sahil has created a significant body of literature in both Hindi and Punjabi. He is especially credited with connecting the regional culture of the Kandi region with the mainstream of Hindi and Punjabi literature. Dr Sahil has been awarded the National Award for his novel Biscope, which explores the regional identity of Kandi and has been honoured by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the former President of India.

His works have been the subject of research (PhD, MPhil) at many universities across the country. Numerous literary and social organisations, including Drishti Da Vision Forum Hoshiarpur, Sabhychar Sambhal Society Hoshiarpur and Vedic Awareness and Research Centre Hoshiarpur, have expressed their happiness and support for this achievement of Dr Sahil.
