RK Mangla, Additional Member (Production Units), Railway Board, today visited Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala. On arrival at the RCF, Mangla inspected the coach manufacturing process in the workshop. He was accompanied by RCF general manager Ashesh Agrawal and other senior officers. He examined various types of coaches being made by RCF viz, AC 3 tier economy class, MEMU with 3 phase electrics, AC 2 tier etc., besides inspecting the newly laid jigs for manufacturing shell of Vande Bharat coaches at shell assembly shop. He inaugurated a laser sutting and welding machine in sheet metal shop.
Mangla praised RCF infrastructure for speedy manufacturing of coaches and also gave valuable tips in the process. Later, a presentation on RCF was made before him elaborating on production output and manufacturing of new types of coaches in RCF. Mangla held a purposeful meeting with the general manager and senior officers on core issues and assured of giving full support from the Railway Board. He appreciated RCF for the record production of 1,862 coaches in the financial year 2021-22.
Mangla applauded the RCF for attaining silver category certification in International Railway Industry Standard, making it the only rail unit of India to be part of only 118 rail companies worldwide to have acquired the coveted silver performance certification.
