Jalandhar, August 14

The neglected road from the bus stand to Chunmun Mall, extending to Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, has finally been repaired on the eve of the state-level Independence Day function scheduled for tomorrow.

The road, riddled with potholes for months, has received a much-needed facelift as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is set to hoist the national flag at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium.

The stretch near Chunmun Mall, particularly at the main chowk, had been a source of resentment for locals due to its poor condition. However, the MC has swiftly acted, digging up and repairing the road with interlocking tiles. This sudden burst of activity has not gone unnoticed by local businessmen.

Criticising the Municipal Corporation, local businessman Karan Arora said, “It seems like our voices and memoranda hold no meaning. When the CM or other VIPs visit, the roads are immediately repaired. Jalandhar must hold such state-level events regularly to get better roads and infrastructure.”

In addition to road repairs, the garbage dump near Guru Gobind Singh Stadium has also been cleared, adding to the area’s sudden transformation.
